Painting and a Picnic
Painting and a Picnic is a fun way to paint outdoors, the way the impressionist masters such as Monet, and Van Gogh did – out in the open air! ANY skill level is welcome! Don’t be intimidated by lack of experience. This is a nurturing experience to expand your skill in a fun way. We can accommodate groups from 2-25! We are perfect for a date activity, friend gatherings, clubs or groups, anniversaries, and corporate events! (Minimum age of 12, minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.)
Your party will choose one of our three locations for a three hour event: Palma Sola Botanical Park in Bradenton, FL for a more exotic and lush landscape, Ken Thompson City Park, Sarasota, FL for a beautiful view of the Sarasota Bay, Ringling Bridge, and the Sarasota skyline, or Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area, Punta Gorda, FL, for a natural Floridian landscape.
For $139 per person, the following is included in the value:
- Guided Live Instruction on Plein Air Painting style
- All painting supplies (paint, brushes, palette, easel, viewfinder, color mixing guide, water receptacle for brushes, paper towels, smocks if needed, a prepped 11”x14” canvas, chair, and shade)

We have a complimentary catered picnic and selection of refreshing drinks set up under our tent for you to graze on whenever you like!
You will arrive to a place of breathtaking beauty, tirelessly scouted by us to make sure all your comforts are taken into consideration so that your creativity will flow without interruption. After your entire party has arrived: check-in, we will show you to your chair, shade, easel, and supplies. (If you are of advanced skill level, or just simply wish to find a different view to paint, no worries! We will be happy to assist you any way we can.)
We have found some of the best caterers in the area for our events. You won’t leave us hungry!
Our plein air instructor will guide you through how to paint the beautiful scene in front of you and be available for any questions, or advice. You will leave our event, not only with your own plein air painting, but also beautiful memories to savor for a lifetime with your friends and family!

Ken Thompson City Park, Lido Key, Sarasota, FL. A spectacular scene awaits- a view from the beach overlooking gorgeous Sarasota Bay, Sarasota City Skyline, Ringling Bridge, as well as all the natural wildlife sharing the same space. If we are lucky, the Sarasota Sailing Squadron will be out and about to make the scene even more impressive, if that’s possible!

Private Parties or Events
We have so many occasions that Painting and a Picnic would be perfect for: birthdays, anniversaries, engagement or bachelorette parties, groups of friends/clubs, corporate or employee appreciation events, team-building, Parent-child bonding exercise for ages 12+(great way to connect with that moody artistic teen or tween!), or any group that wants to celebrate time together for long-lasting fun memories! Our Policy
DEPOSITS
50% upon booking, remainder due, in full, no later than five (5) business days before scheduled event.
REFUNDS
NO REFUNDS within five (5) business days from the event. Refund timeframes dependent upon your financial institutions.
CANCELATIONS
Painting and a Picnic reserves all rights to cancel for any reason, at any time. Full refunds will be given in this circumstance. (This is Florida and literally ANYTHING can happen!) For Example, if winds are greater than 10mph, it is too windy for this experience to be enjoyable. Our last wish is to cancel, so we take this very seriously. If there is a cancelation, it is because we believe that you will not have the experience we want you to have and we won’t settle for anything less than perfect!
DISTURBANCES OR DAMAGE
If you, or your party, is a disturbance to the rest of the guests, or the location, you will be asked to leave with no refund. You will also be responsible financially for any damage to the location or equipment if there is abuse or misuse.
ALLERGY
It is your responsibility to make known to Painting and a Picnic of any food allergies that would cause you, or anyone in your party, illness or harm. Email us here: [email protected] and we will find alternative foods for you. Notice of food allergy MUST be given to the above email address NO LESS THAN 7 BUSINESS DAYS IN ADVANCE OF EVENT DATE. No exceptions. No outside food is allowed at the events unless given specific permission by event hosts.
LIABILTY
Painting and a Picnic is not liable for any injury that may arise from nature, (insect/animal bites, poisonous plants, etc…) uneven walking surfaces, horseplay, or acts of God, etc…to name a few.
WEIGHT LIMIT FOR CHAIRS
ALL chairs support up to 300 lbs. We have a very limited quantity of chairs that support up to 450 lbs.
WHAT TO BRING
Please make sure to bring a hat, wear good shoes, protective clothing for the weather, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
PETS
NO pets are allowed at our events.
Painting and a Picnic International Travel Events
We are planning travel to the countryside of Paris to stay and paint a beautiful 17th century chateau and it’s breathtaking landscapes! Plenty of free time to visit bustling Paris, stunning Giverny, or royal Chantilly on day trips.
The second international trip we are working on is tropical Costa Rica! Stay at an Eco Resort in the Cloud Forest! See and hear exotic birds and animals as you paint the lush landscapes in front of you. Plenty of time to visit a Volcano, and immerse yourself in local culture, and food too!
